Biography

Dr. W. Michael Hanemann is a Chancellor’s professor and Professor of environmental and resource economics in the Department of Agricultural and Resources Economics, at Arizona State University where he has been on the faculty since 1968. He is one of the most highly cited and successful environmental and resource economists of our time and has made seminal contributions in several areas of environmental economics. He was a lead author on the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report (AR5), published in 2014, and is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Hanemann was educated at Oxford University, London School of Economics and Harvard University, where he received a Ph.D.
